Amy, thanks for this detailed and profound post! This is a very large piece of the Constitutional crisis. This is like the early stages of Hitler’s Brown Shirts and SS. I’ll be very curious to see how military recruitment goes from here. Definitely restacking this one and I totally agree. If you are lying wounded on the battlefield I don’t think you care whether it’s a muscular Green Beret or a transgender medic who comes to try to save you. I heard more than one wounded soldier cry out for his mother, but his mother can only be there in spirit and isn’t going to be able to save him.

Thanks for restacking Bob and yes I too see it as just the beginning. The removal of black and female leaders started months ago and this purge of trans fighters serving honorably is completely unwarranted and part of a military thinning.

I so value your perspective Amy. This is a broader purge. You’re right that the real targets are anyone who might not follow orders to violate the Constitution and attack Americans.

Yes, I’ve read this. A very good read and critical to the education of all military leaders and I would argue all leaders—

“Freedom, equality, democracy and "the inalienable rights of men" are phrases that denote fundamental realities that the American military profession will always fight for rather than surrender. “

The revolution in military affairs meant that we could project power and influence with less risk, greater credibility and fewer casualties. Oleksandr Semenovych Zelenskyy just demonstrated that. It is called the art of war. Hegseth is unqualified, incompetent, and unaccountable. Most important, he is clueless about what it takes to develop a winning national security strategy. God help us.

Great piece Amy! Unfortunately, this is what we get when the presidunce puts a weekend Fox News anchor in the most important position in the DOD. Hegseth always reminds me of a quote by the Joker Man in Full metal Jacket, “. Parris Island, South Carolina. The Marine Corps Training Depot. An eight-week college for the phony tough and the crazy brave.” Not that Hegseth deserves to be associated with Parris Island, but he is “”phony tough”, for sure!

We’ve entered very frightening times. In your opinion, what do you think the military will actually do if called upon to fight fellow Americans?

It would split the military into factions and result in civil war.
